Mr. Erulkar has more than two decades of experience in various aspects and levels of domestic and international business and government. He is the founder of Innovation Consulting LLC, an economic-development and strategy-consulting firm. Prior to that, until 2014, he was vice president for economic development and new-development strategies at the Detroit Regional Chamber.
Before moving to Detroit in 2011, Mr. Erulkar served as Deputy Assistant Secretary of Commerce for Economic Development at the U.S. Department of Commerce and as Chief Counsel for the Department’s Economic Development Administration in Washington, D.C. He also served as U.S. representative to the Territorial Development and Policy Committee at the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development, and as an external advisor for the Capital Region of Denmark in Copenhagen. In that role, he shaped and directed a 5-year regional economic-growth program for Copenhagen and its surrounding municipalities.
His bachelor’s degree (magna cum laude) in international relations and comparative government is from Harvard University. He received a master’s in international studies at Johns Hopkins University and a juris doctor from University of Pennsylvania.
